‘52 Activities to Help You and Your Kids Discover the Wonders
of Nature’
As the title says this is a book to help parents and children engage together outdoors.
It’s not illustrated there is a photograph on the cover which suggests that it is aimed at parents that want to spend some time with their kids.
The age range would fall within under 5 years old, children that still need their parents around for this kind of activities.

‘My
Outdoor Activity Doodle Book’ –
Amanda Li
The
art style used here tends to be purely made from illustrative typography and
imagery. The colour scheme and style of drawing tends to indicate that the book
is aimed at the younger age child of the spectrum (6-8).
The
layout is quite hectic, but I feel that this conveys the idea behind the book,
and more than likely mirrors the books content about the ‘wacky’ activities
children can do outside.
‘The
Stick Book: Loads of Things You Can Do Or Make With A Stick’ – Fiona Danks & Fiona Schofield
As
a book cover this has an interesting blend of typography and illustration, this
will catch the eyes of younger children as well as parents. Within the book the
images are more photo based and there is a significant amount of text. The
typeface is clear and there is plenty of space between the letter so despite
the amount of text that suggests parents could be the ones reading it, older
children will also be able to read and understand this book.
This
book encourages the use of sticks to create multiple activities, by using an
easily accessible outdoors object such as a stick the books encourages children
to use their problem solving and creative skills outside, for example building
with sticks will not only take creativity to plan and create but also problem
solving to build.
